When it comes to God, the act of giving is not simply about reaching into your pocket and dispensing with your excess change. True gifts to God are given with meaning and sincerity of heart. Everything done for God, whether it be in giving your time or finances, must come from a willing heart. An individual who chooses to give with a heart that is seeking to honor and please Christ will find favor in the eyes of the Lord.

Why Give?

1) Giving is an extension of praise & thanksgiving toward God for how He has provided for and taken care of you. (see Gen. 28:20–22)

2) Through giving, God calls us to gain favor in His sight by following His directives. (see Malachi 3:7)

3) By our giving, He, God, promises to bless us in more ways than we can handle. As a sweetener, He calls each of us to openly challenge His promises in case we doubt that He will do as He says. (see Malachi 3:10-12)

4) Giving is a faith-building activity. As we give, God has promised to bless. As God blesses us as a result of our giving, we are reassured that His promises are true, and that we can trust Him.

5) Giving helps to support the ongoing ministries of this church. The ministries of this church are established to be an ongoing support to our community. Therefore, giving helps to support our community through the various ministries of the church. It’s a win-win! (see Numbers 18:21)

6) By not giving to God we are knowingly/unknowingly calling a curse on our lives. (see Malachi 3:8-9)

7) Giving naturally releases “feel good” chemicals in the body. To give is an act of good. Anyone who has done good out of the genuineness of their heart can be a witness to the overwhelming feeling of euphoria that comes over you after you have done good. Need a boost?! Give today!

The Bottom Line On Giving

Despite God’s urging to have us follow after Him and do as He says, the final decision is always up to us. Our church needs your support, however, your decision to follow God’s directives in giving, or otherwise, should never be out of a grudging or fearful spirit, but out of love. (see 1 Corinthians 13:3 & 2 Corinthians 9:7)
